All I want is to see you smile
Even though you've said it doesn't matter
Crushing waves of guilt crash over me
Every time I turn to you to cry
You have other concerns
You don't need mine
Still, harsh words like poisoned barbed wire
Never escape your lips
The only words you have for me are
Soft, sweet and understanding
Gentle as a breeze upon my skin
Your caring words follow me where ever I go
When my emotional barrier cracks
You'll hold my world together
But is it right
To use you as a shield from reality?
